Match Day three of the Premier League was full of shocks, with Manchester United and Tottenham on the end of poor home defeats. Meanwhile punters who backed goals were leaping for joy. Here is a look at the Winners and Losers of Match Day three. Bet on football here.
Winners
Chelsea and Tammy Abraham
Frank Lampard picked up his first win in the Premier League as Chelsea manager, when they saw off Norwich 3-2 in an entertaining fixture. Chelsea youngsters Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham put in excellent displays to repay their manager’s faith in them. Abraham was the star of the show with two brilliant goals in either half. Despite all their dynamism as an attacking force, there are still question marks around their backline that got breached several times. Lampard was clearly happy for the performance and he will be looking to find a solution to their defense in the coming days.
Liverpool
Liverpool won their third consecutive Premier League match as Mohamed Salah scored twice in a convincing 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Saturday. Once again Jürgen Klopp’s men have started the season in dream fashion and they have turned up the heat early on Manchester City. If this performance was anything to go by you can expect another rampant season for the Reds, with all of their forwards fit and firing.
Both Teams to Score Punters
It was definitely a very entertaining weekend for Premier League fans, as most games witnessed goals at both ends. Only Brighton, Tottenham and Everton failed to score, making for a very interesting weekend for our punters who had an eye for goals this weekend. A total of 30 Premier League goals were scored and this is testament to the quality of players in the division. We can certainly expect more of the same in the coming days.
Losers
Tottenham
Tottenham fell to a disappointing 1-0 loss at home to Newcastle United in a match they were highly expected to win. The hosts began the match without any urgency and the lethargy spread through the team to tempt the visitors into making attacks. This would result in an early goal by the Magpies striker Joelinton, who scored the one and only goal of the day in North London. If Spurs are not careful, such mistakes could prove costly in their hunt for silverware.
Manchester United and Marcus Rashford
Crystal Palace recorded their first league win over Manchester United in 28 years with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford. Jordan Ayew gave the visitors the lead in the first half following on from an error from Victor Lindelof. Marcus Rashford was given the chance to equalize in the second half but saw his penalty come off the inside of the post. Daniel James almost rescued a point for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side but a mistake from David De Gea proved too costly in the dying minutes of the match.
Watford
Watford find themselves in a precarious position after losing all three of their opening fixtures of the season. This is a sharp contrast to last season where they won all their opening three fixtures and Javi Garcia acknowledges the slippery path they have taken. They handed West Ham their first win of the season during the weekend with a 3-1 loss. The result leaves Gracia’s side at the foot of the Premier League, and they will need to do something about it soon.
