Watford recorded a famous win, bottom club Norwich secured a rare victory, while Mourinho suffered a third straight loss for the fourth time in his career. Here are the Winners and Losers from the Premier League: Matchweek 28. Bet on the Premier League here.

WINNERS

Teams in the relegation zone

It was a massive weekend for the bottom three. Norwich, Watford and West Ham all registered huge wins which could be important in the battle for survival. Watford produced a marvelous performance to record a famous win over Liverpool. The win not only took them out of the danger zone but also ended Liverpool’s hopes of going unbeaten this season in the league.

The Canaries also secured a big 1-0 win over top four hopefuls Leicester City. Although they’re still bottom of the table, the win could be a catalyst for a miraculous survival. They’re now six points from safety and will need to get a few more results to start climbing up.

After a run of six defeats in their last eight matches, West Ham finally won. They comfortably beat Southampton 3-1 to move out of the drop zone. Despite securing maximum points at the weekend, four crucial matches await. They face Arsenal, Wolves, Tottenham and Chelsea in their next four games. They’ll need to carry their momentum and confidence in these matches and who knows, they just might pull through this horrific run of games unscathed.

Wolves

Wolves produced another giant-killing performance to beat Spurs 3-2 and improve their chances of finishing in the top four. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side trailed twice in north London before Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota combined to inflict a third straight defeat on Spurs. Wolves have won 35 points from losing positions in the Premier League since the start of last season, at least six more than any other side during this period.

Crystal Palace

Palace ended their eight-game winless run by securing a 1-0 win away at struggling Brighton. This was the Eagles’ first win over the Seagulls in three attempts and ended a seven-year wait for a win at Amex Stadium. This was also Roy Hodgson’s 100th Premier League match in charge of the Eagles.

LOSERS

Tottenham

Tottenham suffered their third consecutive defeat when they lost 3-2 at home to Wolves. Jose Mourinho’s side were 2-1 up but were punished by the visitors who produced excellent counter-attacking football. Despite dominating possession, Spurs failed to register a shot on target in the second half. Mourinho has now lost three games in a row for the fourth time in his managerial career. A Spurs win could have moved them close to fourth-placed Chelsea, who drew 2-2 at Bournemouth.

Brighton

Brighton are still the only team yet to register a win in the Premier League in 2020. They lost 1-0 at home to Palace, a result which dragged them close to the danger zone. Despite racking up 24 shots against the Eagles, their best-ever total in a Premier League game, they lacked the cutting edge in front of goal. They have won just once in their last 14 matches in all competitions. Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are Brighton’s next four home opponents, with trips to Wolves and Leicester sandwiched in between those games. Can they survive this run?

David de Gea

It was another day to forget for David De Gea, whose error gave Everton the lead very early in the game against Manchester United. He had plenty of time to clear following Harry Maguire’s simple backpass but he dilly-dallied, allowing Dominic Calvert-Lewin to press and block his clearance which deflected into the net. Sunday’s blunder was the latest in a difficult season for the Spanish international. He has now made seven errors leading directly to an opposition goal in the Premier League since the start of last season, the joint-most in the division.
