Everton shaky defence v City deadly attack
Everton are enduring a terrible run of form lately. They have won just three matches in 12. However, it could get worse if they fail to stop a deadly City team at Goodison Park on Wednesday night. City’s attackers will be rubbing their hands when they come face to face with the Toffees defence which has been miserable the last few weeks. Their defence disorganization and indiscipline was evident when they conceded three at home to Wolves this past weekend. They definitely can’t have an off day against the best attack in Europe. City became the first team to score 100 goals in all competitions when they beat Huddersfield 3-0 two weeks ago. The Toffees two wins in the last six games in the league has made Marco Silva’s position as manager come under intense scrutiny. They have won just six games at home this season and will be facing a dangerous City team who have lost just once in five games. Although City’s away form leaves a lot to be desired, they can be ruthless if they want to. Currently, the Evertonians lack the confidence, endeavour and a solid game plan to trouble many teams and pressure in on Silva to rally his troops and revive their season. Richarlison v Aguero
Sergio Aguero comes into this clash after scoring a hat-trick against Arsenal at the weekend. The hat-trick was his 10th in the Premier League. Despite his good form, Aguero hasn’t had much success against Everton. He has failed to score against them in seven successive matches which doesn’t bode well for him heading into Wednesday’s game. But given the shambles in Everton’s defence, the Argentine will be hoping for a much better return this time round. The Toffees have put their goalscoring burden on Brazilian Richarlison this season with forwards like Tosun misfiring. Richarlison has scored ten league goals for them this season a good return given he’s been played in different positions by Silva. His 3rd-minute goal secured Everton’s last win at Huddersfield a week ago. However, he’s not been in his best form recently and will be hoping for a positive outcome against City.
