United to dent Liverpool’s title hunt.
Bar that performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Manchester United have been impressive ever since former player Ole Gunnar Solkjaer took over. The Red Devils registered another huge, knocking Chelsea out of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge on Monday. On Sunday they play probably the biggest game of their season, a showdown with Liverpool. United certainly have the momentum and hence will be optimistic going into this match against a Liverpool team that has faltered in recent matches. Liverpool have not won at Old Trafford since March 2014 and that record looks very likely to continue on Sunday afternoon.
Relegations candidates Fulham and Huddersfield to suffer another blow
Fulham have lost six of their last ten games winning only two, while Huddersfield are yet to win a Premier League match since November and things could get worse for them this weekend. Fulham, who are eight points from safety, travel to the London Stadium to face West Ham and are hoping to get a positive result in order to resuscitate their Premier League survival. Huddersfield chances of staying in the top flight are hanging by a thread at the moment and on Saturday afternoon they visit Newcastle. The Terriers, who’ve won only two matches this season and sit rock bottom of the league, must find a way to get a result at St James’ Park or they could be in for a long afternoon.
Cardiff City to keep rolling on?
Cardiff City are looking to win three consecutive top-flight league matches for the first time since February 1961 when they host Watford on Friday night. The Bluebirds are on a two-game winning streak, registering victories over Bournemouth and Southampton. The Hornets are a tough team to beat and will be looking to cement their position inside the top half of the table. However, Cardiff have won seven games in the Premier League and 70% have been at home so they’re optimistic about Friday night. They have scored 15 goals at home and kept back to back clean sheets.
Spurs to put more pressure on the leaders.
Tottenham Hotspur have registered four straight victories which has firmly put them in the title race. If they beat Burnley on Saturday, they could move within two points off Manchester City who have played one more match. Moreover, they could put more pressure on Liverpool who will be playing arguably their biggest game of the season against their bitter rivals Manchester United. One important thing to take note of is Spurs’ next two matches after Burnley are against top-four hopefuls Chelsea and Arsenal. A win at Burnley will not only go a long way in cementing their place inside the top three but also helping them have a go a the Premier League title.
Under 2.5 Goals at Newcastle.
Six of Newcastle’s last ten matches have seen Under 2.5 goals scored in all competitions. In the Premier League, they have scored only 22 goals and conceded 34, one less than Manchester United and three less than Arsenal this season. Huddersfield, on the other hand, have seen goals hard to come by this season. They have scored a paltry 14 goals all season. Given the magnitude of this game, their struggles in front of goal could linger. They are facing a resurgent Magpies team who’ve won the last two matches at home. This match will not certainly seal Newcastle or Huddersfield’s fate in the league but whoever wins this will move a step closer to Premier League survival.
