The Premier League 2023-24 campaign begins when newly promoted side Burnley host champions Manchester City on Friday August 11, and here at Premier Bet we are giving you the lowdown on all 20 teams ahead of the new season.

Nottingham Forest
Last season: 16th
Key signing: Anthony Elanga (£15m, Man Utd)
Prediction: 17th
Despite signing more than 20 players for a total outlay of almost £200m last summer, Forest were far from convincing in their first Premier League campaign since the turn of the century, ultimately finishing two positions and four points clear of the relegation zone.
An impressive tally of 11 points from their last six matches ultimately saved Steve Cooper’s side from bouncing straight back to the Championship, but they appeared to lack a tactical blueprint, relying on the magic of Morgan Gibbs-White to inject offensively quality into their performances.
With only Anthony Elanga, Matt Turner and Ole Aina providing fresh faces so far this summer, it could be more of the same this season, although Ibrahim Sangare would provide some much required passing ability from central midfield should he join from PSV Eindhoven as rumoured. Expect another relegation dog fight until the end of the season, but Forest may just have enough to survive once again.
Sheffield United
Last season: 2nd (Championship)
Key signing: Benie Traore (£4m, Hacken)
Prediction: 20th
After missing out to Forest in the play-offs in the previous campaign, Sheff Utd bounced back to put together an impressive promotion campaign, with the Blades never really looking in any doubt to finish second behind champions Burnley.
However, they have lost their star player Iliman Ndiaye to Marseille, and there is little doubt that the Senegal forward leaves huge boots to fill. Benie Traore arrives as a man in form after scoring 12 goals in 14 games for Hacken in Sweden already this season, but it’s clearly a huge step up to translate that form to the Premier League, and Paul Heckingbottom is still awaiting further signings to bolster his squad.
Unlike Luton, Sheff Utd will not have the fresh excitement of competing at this level having only been relegated three campaigns ago, and it is tough to see where the magic and goals are going to come from in front of what should be solid enough defensive and midfield units. We can envisage them propping up the rest of the division come next May.
Tottenham Hotspur
Last season: 8th
Key signing: James Maddison (£40m, Leicester)
Prediction: 8th
Tottenham endured their worst season in terms of league placing since 2009 last time out, which means they will be without European football for the first time in more than a decade.
Spurs have poached Ante Postecoglou from Celtic as their new manager, with the Greek-born Australian more likely to implement an attractive style of play than his predecessors Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
However, should Harry Kane’s big-money move to Bayern Munich go through before the end of the window as seems more likely than not, it is tough to see how they can expect to improve. They undoubtedly retain quality in attacking areas with Son Heung-Min, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski and new addition Maddison, but defensive fragilities seem likely to persist, particularly if Postecoglou attempts to be too expansive, too quickly.
West Ham United
Last season: 14th
Key signing: None
Prediction: 10th
After winning their first major trophy in over 40 years by lifting the Europa Conference League when defeating Fiorentina in early June, West Ham’s fans have endured a frustrating summer transfer window, with their efforts to replace Declan Rice proving more difficult than expected.
Their former captain Declan Rice departed to Arsenal for an eye-watering fee of around £105m last month, with rumoured moves for Connor Gallagher, Joao Palhinha and Scott McTominay all since thwarted. However, Edson Alvarez is set to join from Ajax, while James Ward-Prowse and Harry Maguire are close to completing moves from Southampton and Manchester United respectively.
At the time of writing, though, the Hammers are the only team in the Premier League yet to sign a player this summer, while Lucas Paqeuta is being pursued by Manchester City. Any ambitions of qualifying for Europe via a league finish appear unlikely, but a top half finish should be the aim, although David Moyes may prioritise undertaking another European journey in the form of the Europa League.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Last season: 14th
Key signing: Matheus Cunha (£40m, Atletico Madrid)
Prediction: 15th
Strange things are happening at Wolves. Financial fair play regulations frustrated former Spain and Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui to the extent that he decided to leave the club, with former Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil drafted in as his replacement earlier this week.
Matt Doherty has returned to the club alongside Cunha and Boubacar Traore making their loan moves made permanent, but Ruben Neves and Nathan Collins have departed for big-money moves to Al-Hilal and Brentford respectively. Club legends Raul Jimenez and Conor Coady have also left for pastures new at Fulham and Leicester respectively.
No team scored fewer goals than Wolves in the Premier League last season, and without further additions, it is tough to see how that will dramatically change this time around. They are looking lighter than ever at the back, too, meaning a relegation battle could be on the cards.
