Mr. Predictor’s Premier League predictions

Hi gang! This weekend is all about the Premier League, particularly in London where Chelsea welcome back Jose Mourinho. You can get odds on these games here.

Chelsea 1 v 1 Tottenham – Saturday 22 February – Premier League – Under 2.5 Goals (2.00)

Jose Mourinho’s back at Stamford Bridge and I’m expecting a typically cautious display from his side here. He didn’t win any of his four games here when he was at Manchester United and will be desperate to avoid defeat this time. Tottenham are one point behind Chelsea and are unbeaten in their last four league games. Chelsea haven’t won any of their last four league games. In fact, they’ve only won five of their 13 league games at home this season. Both of these sides failed to score in their last respective matches and I see a low-scoring Draw here.

Werder Bremen 2 v 3 Borussia Dortmund – Saturday 22 February – Bundesliga – Dortmund Win and Over 2.5 Goals (1.65)

This Dortmund side are scoring for fun, but they’ve got to be careful after they lost to Bremen two weeks ago in the DFB Pokal. That game ended 3-2 to the hosts and was the 12th time in 14 meetings that these teams produced Over 2.5 Goals. However, Bremen are struggling in the Bundesliga. They’re 17th, one point above bottom, and have lost their last four games. Dortmund, on the other hand, are third with four wins in five league games. I’m backing an Away Win and more goals.

Southampton 2 v 2 Aston Villa – Saturday 22 February – Premier League – Both Teams to Score (1.65)

Southampton seemed to have moved away from the relegation battle but back-to-back defeats have them looking back over their shoulder again. They actually haven’t won any of their last four games in any competition and defeat would leave them only three points above Villa. The visitors have also lost their last two league games but they’re very capable of getting goals. Both Teams to Score has been a winning bet in their last nine games in all competitions and I think it will be the same here. As for the result? I’m going for a Draw.

Leicester 1 v 3 Manchester City – Saturday 22 February – Premier League – Both Teams to Score (1.50)

When these teams met in December, they both had a slim chance of claiming the title but this clash is all about the battle for second spot. Third-placed Leicester have only won one of their last five league games. They have also only won once in five games at the King Power Stadium. Manchester City returned to winning ways against West Ham after they had lost their two previous games. They beat the Foxes 3-1 in December and I’m going for the same score here. My Match Tip is Both Teams to Score, which has won in eight of these teams’ last ten meetings.

Arsenal 2 v 1 Everton – Sunday 23 February – Premier League – Both Teams to Score (1.60)

This is an interesting game. These sides both hired new managers in December and have seen some improvement since. Arsenal have not lost any of their last six league games and their 4-0 win against Newcastle last Sunday was their third in four home games. They are two points behind Everton, who haven’t lost any of their last four games. They have conceded in all of those games though, so Both Teams to Score could be a good bet. The Toffees last won away to Arsenal in 1996 and the Gunners have won 21 of their 25 home games against them since. I’ll back a Home Win.
