Mr. Predictor looks at the Community Shield, the Championship and more

I’m keen to see how the sides that were relegated from the Premier League play this weekend in the Championship. There are also a couple of exciting Super Cups in England and France. This should be good!

PSG v Monaco – Saturday 4 August – Trophée des Champions – BET HERE

PSG won the treble last season, so Monaco are playing in this Super Cup match by virtue of coming second in Ligue 1. Les Parisiens have missed several key players in pre-season but, as with Monaco, their friendlies have been full of goals, and Over 2.5 Goals have been scored in all of their last six games against their opponents. PSG have won all of those clashes, and they’ll win here.

Match Tip: Over 2.5 Goals
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: PSG 3 v 1 Monaco

West Brom v Bolton – Saturday 4 August – Championship – BET HERE

Having been relegated from the Premier League, West Brom are back in the Championship for the first time since the 2009/10 season. They’ve at least secured Darren Moore as a permanent manager, and he’s guided them to three wins from four summer friendlies. Bolton only avoided relegation from the Championship on the final day of last season, so I see a Home Win.

Match Tip: West Brom Win
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: West Brom 2 v 0 Bolton

Sheffield United v Swansea – Saturday 4 August – Championship – BET HERE

Graham Potter is in charge at Swansea now, but they’ve sold Lukasz Fabianski, Alfie Mawson and Ki Sung-Yeung and have lost their last eight games, including all three pre-season friendlies. Sheffield United finished tenth in the Championship last season and they’ve had a good summer with four wins, plus a draw with Inter Milan. I think they’ll win this one too.

Match Tip: Sheffield United Win
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: Sheffield United 1 v 0 Swansea

Chelsea v Man City – Sunday 5 August – Community Shield – BET HERE

FA Cup winners Chelsea are back with a new manager. I’m very excited to see what Maurizio Sarri can do with these players, but the Blues haven’t won any of their past seven Community Shield games inside 90 minutes. Almost all of Manchester City’s first team was at the World Cup, so Pep Guardiola won’t have a full squad to pick from at Wembley. City beat Chelsea home and away last season in the league, but I don’t think they will be as strong this time.

Match Tip: Both Teams to Score
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: Chelsea 1 v 1 Man City

Leeds v Stoke – Sunday 5 August – Championship – BET HERE

Marcelo Bielsa is the new manager at Leeds, and he will be expected to improve on their 13th place finish last season. I think Stoke have done really well since they were relegated from the Premier League. Manager Gary Rowett took Derby to the play-offs last season, and he’s signed Benik Afobe and Tom Ince. However, the Potters lost four of last five friendlies, so I’ll back a Draw here.

Match Tip: Both Teams to Score
Mr. Predictor’s Verdict: Leeds 1 v 1 Stoke
