Mr. Predictor discusses the upcoming EFL Cup games, including Liverpool v Arsenal and Chelsea v Man United

Hello gang! These are my highlights for the week, I won’t be putting all of these games together on a ticket. Instead I’ll do them each day. You can bet on these games here.

Manchester City 4 v 0 Southampton – Tuesday 29 October – EFL Cup – Over 3.5 Goals (1.75)

Having just suffered a humiliating 9-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester, this isn’t exactly the best game for Southampton to play! Man City have won this trophy in each of the last two seasons and beat Burton Albion 9-0 in their last EFL Cup game at the Etihad. They also beat the Saints 6-1 here last season. Even though I expect Pep Guardiola to shuffle the pack for this game, we will still see a very strong side on show. It won’t be another 9-0 win, but Southampton won’t get any joy here.

Valencia 1 v 1 Sevilla – Wednesday 30 October – La Liga – Both Teams to Score (1.70)

Valencia have only won one of their last five games in all competitions and it seems their problems lie at the back. Both Teams to Score has been a winning bet in the last four of those games. Even though they are unbeaten at home in the league this season, their defence will be given a thorough examination by the visitors. Things are going better for Sevilla, who have won four of their last five games in all competitions. However, none of those victories have come away from home. They also haven’t won any of their past five games against Sevilla, so I think this will be a Draw.

Liverpool 2 v 1 Arsenal – Wednesday 30 October – EFL Cup – Over 2.5 Goals (1.50)

I’m excited for this game as it’s a fixture that usually provides plenty of goals. There have been Over 2.5 Goals in eight of the last ten matches between these sides and 24 goals in the last five meetings at Anfield. Liverpool will be brimming with confidence after they maintained their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League with another win on Sunday. They have won their last 14 home games in all competitions and there have been Over 2.5 Goals in all six games at Anfield this season. Things aren’t working out for Arsenal or Unai Emery at the moment. They have only won two of their six away games this season. Their “cup” team has scored 15 times in four games this season, though, so I think they could put up a fight and get a goal.

Chelsea 2 v 1 Man United – Wednesday 30 October – EFL Cup – Both Teams to Score (1.70)

Both teams are in good form coming into this game. Revenge will surely be on the minds of Chelsea’s players after they lost 4-0 at Old Trafford back in August. Frank Lampard has certainly improved things since then, though. The Blues have won seven games in a row in all competitions, but it’s fair to say that their defence remains a problem. They let in two late goals at Burnley on Saturday and have only kept three clean sheets in 13 games this season. Manchester United have recorded back-to-back wins for only the second time since early March. The return of Anthony Martial has already improved their attack, but I think Chelsea will probably be too strong for them.

AC Milan 1 v 0 SPAL – Thursday 31 October – Serie A – AC Milan Win (1.45)

AC Milan have to win here. A defeat to AS Roma on Sunday means that they have only won two out of nine matches this season. Fortunately they are playing SPAL. They managed a draw with Napoli on Sunday but have a terrible away record. They have lost all four of their away games this season and haven’t scored a single away goal. Once I factor in that Milan have won all four of their games against them in the Serie A, I have to back a Home Win.
