The Long Shot: Premier League Acca for the weekend

Here is our attempt at winning a big accumulator in this weekend’s Premier League football.

Fulham v Crystal Palace – Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals – 2.20

Fulham were a force to be reckoned with at Craven Cottage last season as they found the net in 22 of their 24 home games in the Championship. However, they conceded in 13 of those games, and their defence will have to cope with a higher standard of opposition in the Premier League. Crystal Palace have seen Over 2.5 Goals in all six of their pre-season friendlies, with both teams on the scoresheet in five of those. There were at least three goals in seven of their final ten league games at the end of last season, and fans can expect plenty of action here.

Watford v Brighton – Both Teams to Score – 1.90

Watford have struggled for consistency in pre-season but they have managed to find the net in all five of their warm-up friendlies, although they have only kept one clean sheet in that run. The Hornets scored at least once in 15 of their 19 home games last season, while they conceded in 14 of those matches. Both teams have scored in all five of Brighton’s friendly games over the summer, and it looks likely that their form will spill over into the start of the league campaign.

Wolves v Everton – Wolves win and Over 1.5 Goals – 2.80

After a six-year absence, Wolves have returned to the top flight following a Championship campaign that saw them reach 99 points and 82 goals. The club’s Portuguese connections have paid dividends yet again, as goalkeeper Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho have made a new home at Molineux. Everton’s preparations for the new season have gone downhill in recent weeks and they come into this tie on a four-game losing streak. The Toffees endured defeat in seven of their final ten away games in all competitions last season, and it seems that Marco Silva still has plenty of work to do.

Liverpool v West Ham – Over 3.5 Goals – 2.15

Liverpool have scored 24 goals in eight friendlies in pre-season, with Over 3.5 Goals in five of those games. The Reds scored 28 goals in their final ten games at Anfield last season, five of which featured at least four goals. Three of West Ham’s final five league games last season saw Over 3.5 Goals, while their matches against Liverpool in 2017/18 ended 1-5 and 4-1. Both sides have strengthened in attack over the summer, and they have the chance to start the season strongly at Anfield.

Arsenal v Manchester City – Manchester City Win – 1.90

Manchester City beat Arsenal three times last season en route to a Premier League and League Cup double. The Citizens recorded 32 wins in the league, while Arsenal recorded their lowest points tally since 1996. The Gunners won one and lost six of their ten matches against the teams that finished above them last term, and another defeat looks likely here.
