This week we are proud to introduce you to one of our partners: Joy Nathu ! We are delighted to count this talented DJ and presenter among the Premier Bet family.
Joy Nathu is a Malawian radio DJ, producer, broadcaster and presenter. He won his first UMP Award in 2016 as the DJ of the year. In 2017 and 2018, Nathu also won the same awards and category. He won Radio DJ and Personality of the Year in 2019.
Nathu has also won 2 of Nyasa Music Awards for Best Radio DJ in 2017 and 2018. In 2022, Nathu won the Maso Award as the DJ of the year. He has worked with various other radio presenters such as, Priscilla Kayira, Anne Kadammanja and Juliet Royo.
Nathu is known to have started a radio show called ‘Made on Monday’ where he interviews different upcoming and notable artists.

What makes you proudly Malawian?
Being Malawian is being free. You are free to become anything you want in life if you’re Malawian, as long as you put your mind to it.
What is your favourite Malawian food?
Malawian food is fish and the fish in particular is batala. I love batala with beans as well as nsima.
What is your favourite place in Malawi?
Chikale Beach in Nkhata Bay. Very beautiful place and the water’s very very clean and the beach is also very very beautiful, and very clean and smart.
What is your favourite sport / team / player?
My favourite sport is football and my favourite team is Chelsea. The kings of London! Because Chelsea is the only team in London that has won the Champions League. And favourite player – at the moment it’s Cole Palmer. It used to be N’Golo Kanté but now it’s Cole Palmer.
What is your proudest moment so far?
Winning the first ever award that I won in 2016, in October. That was a UMP award for ‘Best Radio DJ’. I had worked for 13 years in radio and had not won anything significant so when I won the UMP award for the first time, the first ever award that I’d won, I was very very proud.
What is your goal for the future?
I would like to get better at what I do as I inspire more people, and also at the same time become a better person, become a better friend, become a better brother and also become a better father.
