Watford v Burnley (Premier League)
Prior to the internationals, Watford climbed off the bottom of the table with their first win of the campaign at Norwich. They haven’t won any of their last ten league games at Vicarage Road, though. Burnley recently ended a poor run of their own, brushing aside West Ham following three straight losses. The key will be how these teams return after the two-week break. This season Watford have already come back with draws against Arsenal and Tottenham. Burnley have lost at Leicester and drawn at Brighton.
Brighton v Leicester (Premier League)
Leicester have won eight of their last ten games in all competitions, with the only exceptions being narrow defeats to Manchester United and Liverpool. They are second in the Premier League and have conceded just eight goals, a division best. Brendan Rodgers will take more confidence from the fact that his side have won three of their last four games against Brighton.
Sheffield United v Manchester United (Premier League)
Few predicted that the Red Devils would be below the hosts in the table by Matchweek 13. However, Sheffield United have gone five games unbeaten and currently boast the second-best defence in the Premier League. Manchester United have won five of their last six games but their away day woes have been well-documented. They have only won one of their last ten away league matches, against struggling Norwich. This will be a much tougher task.
Real Betis v Valencia (La Liga)
Valencia have won three games in a row and have already picked up wins at Bilbao and Chelsea this season. Real Betis, meanwhile, have won just two of their past ten games and are only one place above the relegation zone. They also haven’t beaten the visitors since 2016, losing to them here in April.
Osasuna v Athletic Bilbao (La Liga)
Three consecutive home wins for Osasuna have launched them up the league table. The Pamplona side are unbeaten on home turf this season, having picked up a respectable draw against Barcelona. Bilbao, meanwhile, haven’t won a single away game, scoring just twice in six games on their travels.
Lecce v Cagliari (Serie A)
Lecce have gone seven games without a win in the Italian top-flight, leaving them hanging precariously just a point above the drop zone. Cagliari, on the other hand, find themselves in the top four following seven wins from their past ten games. Lecce haven’t won a home game since their promotion in the summer and the visitors will not be accommodating.
Bordeaux v AS Monaco (Ligue 1)
These sides are separated by four places in the standings, but only one point. AS Monaco trail the hosts in the table but are in better form, with four wins in five games before the international break. They have won four of their last six games against the hosts, who have won just three of their last ten home games in Ligue 1.
Angers v Nimes (Ligue 1)
Angers are third in the table ahead of the weekend, largely thanks to their magnificent home form. They have won five of their seven league games at the Stade Raymond-Kopa this season, making it an unwelcoming destination for Nimes. The league’s bottom side were beaten 4-1 by Strasbourg in their last game and are winless on the road this season.
Stade Brest v Nantes (Ligue 1)
Nantes’ strong start to the season has been undone by a run of four straight defeats in Ligue 1. Their away form has given them little happiness, either, with four defeats in six games on the road. Brest have only lost one home game so far this season, a narrow 2-1 defeat to champions PSG. Can they bounce back here?
Bristol City v Nottingham Forest (Championship)
These two teams sit side by side in the Championship table on 28 points. Bristol City have won three of their seven home games this season, losing once. Likewise, Forest have won four of their eight away matches, losing once. Last season’s meeting at Ashton Gate ended in a draw.
