AS Roma will be hoping to put a dismal recent run behind them when they host Napoli this Sunday in Serie A. The international break came at the right time for the Giallorossi, who had lost three of their last four matches, including a 2-1 defeat to SPAL under new manager Claudio Ranieri.
Napoli’s results have been inconsistent of late, although they headed into the break second in the league table and having reached the Europa League quarter-finals.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are 13 points above the hosts but will still be disappointed with their title tilt this season as they currently languish 15 points behind runaway leaders Juventus. However, three points in the capital would be a big step toward a place in next season’s Champions League. Will they come out on top?
Betting tips
Roma’s recent matches have been far from dull, with Over 2.5 Goals in 17 of the last 20, including each of the past eight. Similarly, Over 2.5 Goals have also been scored in 4 of Napoli’s past 5 games, with Ancelotti’s team running out 4-2 winners against Udinese in their last outing. You can back Over 2.5 Goals here at odds of 1.75.
Roma have scored and conceded in eight of their last past ten games in all competitions, while they have not kept a clean sheet since early February. Both teams have scored in four of Napoli’s last five matches, and in four of their past five encounters with AS Roma. Both Teams to Score on Sunday is available at odds of 1.60.
Despite their poor form of late, Roma are unbeaten in their last nine home games, winning seven and drawing twice. Napoli needed a last minute goal to force a draw when these sides met in October, so Double Chance 1/X could be a shrewd bet at odds of 1.60.
Team news
Roma were in the midst of an injury crisis before the break, with Kostas Manolas, Cengiz Under and Lorenzo Pellegrini amongst those sidelined.
Centre back duo Raul Albiol and Vlad Chiriches remain long term absentees for Napoli, while David Ospina was not selected for international duty after suffering a head injury against Udinese.
