Premier Bet is proud to announce our new partnership with Malawi striker Gabadinho Mhango!
Mhango has joined the team as Premier Bet’s Malawi Ambassador, with the 30-year-old exclusively revealing that he was delighted to be considered for the new role.
“I am looking forward to a good working relationship. This is a very exciting development for me and I am happy to be part of the Premier Bet Malawi family. It is a company that has employed over 3,000 Malawians.
“I feel so good to be part of them and I have been told that the company is constructing a netball academy in Zingwangwa. I welcome the idea to have football academies and I want to be part of that,” he said.
Born in Chiweta, Mhango has earned 63 caps for Malawi since making his debut for the international team in 2012, scoring 17 goals and counting along the way.
Three of those goals came at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, with Mhango’s brace against Zimbabwe helping Malawi reach the knockout stages of Africa’s premier competition for the first time in their history.
Drawn against Morocco in the last-16, Mhango opened the scoring after only seven minutes with a sensational strike from over 35 metres, which made it into the top three of CAF Awards’ goals of the tournament.
Unfortunately for him and Flames, Morocco turned the match on its head to win 2-1, but that particular moment from a historic campaign will live on eternally in the collective Malawian consciousness.
Mhango’s talent was obvious at an early age, leading to Malawi’s most recognisable club Big Bullets poaching him from Brave Warriors as a teenager, before the forward moved on to Bloemfontein Celtic in the South African Premier Division in 2013.
Mhango joined Bidvest Wits three years later, with his tally of nine goals in 24 appearances in his debut season helping The Clever Boys win their first and only ever Premier Division title in the 2016/17 campaign.
It was little surprise when his consistency as a front-man earned him a transfer to Orlando Pirates in 2019, with Mhango enjoying yet another superb debut season, as he became the first ever player from Malawi to win the Golden Boot in South Africa with 16 goals in 28 games, before departing for AmaZulu last year.
Premier Bet have certainly struck gold by snapping up Mhango to become our Malawi Ambassador, and we are excited what the future will hold as a result of this partnership.
Of course, Mhango isn’t the first star striker that Premier Bet has acquired as a Brand Ambassador. Read here why Didier Drogba believes you should #BetWithTheBest!
