Things to look out for in the Premier League: Match Day 29

The title race is getting tighter, the top four race is intensifying and the battle for relegation has gone up a gear with only ten games left to go. Here are Things to look out for in Premier League: Match Day 29. You can bet on the Premier League here.

Spurs to bounce back

Spurs are on a two-match losing streak. Their last defeat at Chelsea put a massive dent in their title ambitions. On Saturday afternoon, they have an opportunity to bounce back and there is no better game for Spurs to use to return to winning ways. They’ll face a somewhat rejuvenated Arsenal team who are coming into this match with five victories in their last six matches in the league. However, the Gunners record away at Spurs in recent seasons has been poor. Moreover, Mauricio Pochettino has never lost a home game to the Gunners in the Premier League. So, all cards are stacked against Arsenal in this encounter. Spurs also have the second leg of the Champions League on Tuesday and will feel they can go all out in the early kick-off considering they already have one foot in the quarters.

Merseyside Derby

League leaders Liverpool will look to solidify their position at the top of the Premier League when they make a short trip to Goodison Park for the 233rd edition of the Merseyside Derby. Both teams registered convincing wins in their midweek fixtures, but its Everton’s win which was very crucial. In their last 12 matches, the Toffees have lost eight and will look to claim their first Merseyside Derby in their 19th attempt. The Reds meanwhile are looking to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table. Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown will be a massive test for a team waiting for a first league title in almost three decades. Liverpool are huge favourites here and the hosts will have a tough time stopping their nemesis.

Brendan Rodgers Leicester’s debut

Brendan Rodgers will be in the dugout for the first time in Leicester City colours at Vicarage Road against Watford on Sunday. Rodgers replaced Frenchman Claude Puel and a cagey encounter is on the cards between these two. Watford were shell-shocked at Liverpool on Wednesday and will surely give the Foxes a good game in response to that 5-0 drubbing at Anfield. Rodgers watched from the stands as his new team beat Brighton 2-1 and put in a determined performance. Known for his dreamy, free-flowing attacking style of football, a more pragmatic approach is expected from Rodgers since the Hornets can be a menacing side at home.

Baptism of fire for Scott Parker

Fulham’s third manager this season, Scott Parker will face a trial by fire in his first match as interim manager against his former club Chelsea at Craven Cottage. Parker comes in after the sacking of Claudio Ranieri who lasted just three months and only 17 games. Chelsea will be a massive test for the relegation-threatened side who are now 10 points adrift of safety with just 10 matches to go following the 2-0 defeat at fellow relegation strugglers Southampton, a match which ultimately sealed the fate of Ranieri. The Blues were in a bad form themselves but bounced back with an important London Derby win over Spurs two days ago. Fulham feel relegation is inevitable but this game against Chelsea will be a serious test of character for Parker and the players.

More heartbreak for Cardiff City?

Relegation battlers Cardiff City were on the end of another drubbing in their midweek fixture against Everton. This weekend, they travel away to face a wounded Wolves side who lost their last match to bottom team Huddersfield Town. Cardiff have lost nine away matches this season and won only two. Wolves have lost five home games in the league this season and have already beaten Chelsea, Spurs and stopped Manchester teams City and United at Molineux. Although Cardiff came out on top the last time these two met, the hosts are definitely too strong and well drilled to handle the Bluebirds.
