Big Game Focus: Sevilla v Atletico Madrid

The standout fixture this weekend in La Liga will see two sides hoping to mount title challenges meet when Sevilla play host to Atletico Madrid.

Just two points separate the sides but doubts are ripe over whether they will keep pace with leaders Barcelona over the course of the season.

Atletico Madrid are the favourites and they manage to score five goals on their last league visit to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. This is despite their first choice striker Diego Costa being absent.

Sevilla have been scoring goals for fun for their part, and for this they have the likes of Andre Silva, Wissam Ben Yedder and Pablo Sarabia to thank for this.

One thing for sure though is that victory for either Sevilla or Atletico Madrid this Sunday would be a real statement of intent. Who will it be?

Betting preview

Atletico Madrid have struggled away, winning just two of their eight away league games this term. Backing Sevilla Draw No Bet could therefore be the smart bet here as it’s hard to see Atletico Madrid winning this tough away fixture at odds of 1.90 here.

Only one of the last five meetings between Sevilla and Athletico Madrid have failed to see Over 2.5 Goals. Therefore you can back 2.5 Goals at odds of 2.25 here.

Antoine Griezmann has been involved in five of the last six goals scored by Atletico de Madrid in LaLiga. He makes an excellent value for the Anytime Goalscorer market at odds of 2.50 this way.

Team new

Key men Ever Banega and Pablo Sarabia are available again and should start, despite both being linked with moves away. Franco Vazquez and Gabi Mercado are both suspended for this one though.

Filipe Luis and Lucas Hernandez remain out so Saul may have to feature at left-back again. The combative pairing of Thomas Partey and Rodri should be the preferred option in central midfield.

Possible line ups

Sevilla: Vaclik, Carrico,Kjaer, Gomez, Navas, Banega, Mesa, Escudero, Sarabia, Yedder, Silva.

Atletico Madrid: Oblak, Juanfran, Savic, Godin, Niguez, Koke, Rodrigo, Partey, Lemar, Correa, Griezmann.
